£530 a month for a bed in a shed... in the living room
IT was advertised as a large double room in a flatshare, ideal for someone ‘openminded’. But when Joe Peduzzi viewed the £530-a-month room in Bethnal Green, East London, he was puzzled by the lack of bed – until he noticed a shed in the corner.
‘I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,’ said charity worker Mr Peduzzi, 22. ‘The guy just pointed. I stuck my head in for a look. The mattress was right against the walls and the windows were blacked out.
‘There was no privacy – it was in a communal living room. He seemed to think it was normal. I was laughing all the way back to the Tube.’
Matt Hutchinson of SpareRoom.co.uk, which carried the ad, said it ‘puts a whole new spin on the phrase beds in sheds’.
