OLLY MONRO is a trampoline coach and gymnastics tutor who put his heart and soul into his trampoline club. It was a big success, but through no fault of Olly’s, it has had to close. In LAST DAY (RADIO 4, 9.30AM), we listen in as Olly shuts the club for a final time. It’s a sad state of affairs when a little business that’s doing a lot of good can’t stay afloat.

JOHNNY VEGAS, a man with a big heart and a diminishing waistline, stars in THE TOFFEE TIP (RADIO 4, 2.15PM), his semi-autobiographical drama about a fabled mountain of sweets. Harking back to his youth, Johnny tells the tale of two lads who get wind of a dumping ground for the local shops’ spoiled confectionery. The pair — Johnny and Ian — go in search of this Shangri-la, but find many a challenge along the way.

ON THIS afternoon’s IN TUNE (RADIO 3, 4.30PM), the Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti (pictured) will be talking about her Prom at Cadogan Hall next

week before playing a live studio session. The pianist Warren Mailley-Smith is also in the studio to talk about his year-long complete Chopin cycle.

IN MEET DAVID SEDARIS (RADIO 4,

6.30PM), the American humorist rounds off his series of comedy essays and diary extracts with memories of a swim with a sea turtle in Hawaii. This series will be much-missed.
