A living ‘bereavement’
hoWEvEr sad it is for a parent to lose a child (Mail), more tragic and sadder still is to have a daughter like ours who simply decides to cut her whole family out of her life. That is a living bereavement and there is no pain like it.
our daughter has totally broken our hearts, but, fortunately, we also have a lovely son, although he does live 200 miles away.
Just three months after I lost my beloved father-in-law, our daughter cut off all contact with us. That meant we also lost contact with our granddaughter who was then just nine months old.
She’s now seven and my daughter has had two more children, but we haven’t been allowed even a photo of them. All our gifts at Christmas, birthdays and Easter are accepted but not acknowledged.
This is the saddest thing that can happen to a mum. When a child dies, they don’t do it to hurt you.
