Ruck over rugby logo

THE graphic artist commissioned to redesign the Rugby World Cup logo in 1991 has claimed his work is being used for the 2015 edition with the colours upside down.

David Gray-Lyons said he was ‘surprised and dismayed’ to see the green- coloured section depicting the grass at the top of the logo and the blue- coloured background sky at the bottom. World Rugby say the logo has been redesigned again and the blue and green represent their colours. MCC, once the most reactionary club in sport, are now admirably progressive enough to allow Beth Wild, England women’s cricket media manager and former MCC employee, to marry her female partner in the Lord’s Long Room in December — the first same-sex civil ceremony to take place in cricket’s most famous location. AUSSIE irritant-in-chief Shane Warne, a regular house guest of Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove, gave his Ageas Bowl such a blatant plug while commentating on England’s first ODI against Australia that Sky colleague David Gower said he must have a ‘vested interest’. A stand there is named after Warne. THE Dutch were first to grab the best Euro 2016 accommodation around Paris, where England will also be based. Manager Guus Hiddink, who succeeded Louis van Gaal, personally chose their much sought-after hotel in Versailles. But Hiddink resigned last June and Holland are in grave danger of not qualifying after losing at home to Iceland.
