Rugby WAGs at war? Not us insist blondes on the arms of England’s World Cup hunks

- By Arthur Martin

AS THEIR men begin their quest for World Cup glory, it seems England’s rugby WAGs are only too keen to prove they are also on the same team.

On the eve of the tournament, Camilla Kerslake and Chloe Madeley – part of the group of rugby wives and girlfriends known as ‘The Scrummies’ – have been forced to tackle claims of a very public catfight.

Classical singer Miss Kerslake, girlfriend of captain Chris Robshaw, was accused of describing Miss Madeley, daughter of TV stars Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, as a ‘low-rent attention seeker’.

In return Miss Madeley, who is dating England forward James Haskell, allegedly dis-

‘Stuck-up, snobby

and unpopular’

missed Miss Kerslake as ‘stuck up, snobby and unpopular’, according to one report.

The pair were said to have clashed during an event at The O2 in London last week. But the women kicked the allegations into touch yesterday, with Miss Madeley posting a picture on her Instagram account showing her posing with Miss Kerslake.

The fitness fanatic wrote: ‘This was taken the night the slanging match supposedly took place.

‘So, I have an idea, let’s focus on and support the important people shall we? Hint, they’re the big ones in white.’ Miss Kerslake responded by writing: ‘Big love lady xxx.’

The Scrummies have been warned to stay out of the limelight over the next few weeks to avoid distracting their men, and rugby bosses have told players and their partners to avoid posting inflammatory messages on Twitter or other social media platforms.

World Cup-winning coach Sir Clive Wood- ward, a Mail columnist, said: ‘One stupid tweet can affect the whole team. Phones are the new enemy.’

Miss Kerslake, 27, began dating Robshaw, 29, after they met at a charity dinner in 2011, and describes their relationship status as ‘pre- engaged’. The soprano has sung the national anthem at England rugby games in the past, but has declined the chance to do so this time to avoid distracting Robshaw. Miss Madeley, 28, started dating Haskell, 30, in December after exchanging flirty messages over Twitter.

The Rugby World Cup opening ceremony will be staged at Twickenham stadium in West London at 6.45pm tomorrow, and the first game of the tournament between England and Fiji will start at 8pm.
