10 questions I have for Gatland

- Sir Clive Woodward WORLD CUP WINNING COACH

ENGLAND’S clash with Wales on Saturday is probably the biggest World Cup pool match in the history of the tournament. It’s certainly the biggest I can remember. I started getting big-match nerves as early as Tuesday evening when news of England’s expected line-up started filtering out. Since then, the sense of anticipation and excitement has just been building and building — and the tension is not going to ease up yet. At lunchtime today Wales coach Warren Gatland announces his team after an injury-plagued run-in but he still has so many talented players from which to choose his starting XV for the Twickenham clash. Warren usually speaks his mind at press conferences and as the England game looms ever closer, these are the questions I would love to hear asked and answered. Does a serious run of

1 injuries really bring a squad closer together or is that just brave fighting talk? Wales have been playing

2 England for over a century but are World Cup games different? Do you approach this differently to a Six Nations game? Just how important is Alun

3 Wyn Jones to your side? You’ve coached George

4 North all through his Wales and Lions career. Is he the best wing in world rugby? Wales have won just twice

5 at Twickenham since 1988. Does a statistic like that weigh heavily or is it a huge motivation? Wales were outstanding at

6 the last World Cup. Does it grate that you have been ‘rewarded’ with a group as strong as this? Ultimately the referee

7 cost you everything in 2011 with Sam Warburton sent off in the World Cup semi-final. How much evaluation do you do on the ref? How do you rate Sam

8 Burgess? Were you expecting him to line up against you on Saturday? Has Mike Phillips got one

9 last big game in him? So what exactly is

10 Warrenball?!
