Nice dress you’re nearly wearing, Beyonce
SHE’S never exactly been shy about putting her curves on show.
But Beyonce almost revealed a little too much at a concert on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old singer’s wrap dress was slashed almost to her navel and featured a thigh-high split, ensuring she was the centre of attention on the red carpet. The daring dress seemed at risk of slipping – but the star managed to avoid any wardrobe mishaps.
With so much flesh on display, there was speculation that her skin appeared lighter than it has in the past. Onlookers claimed it was not as dark as it was when she was pictured in 2004 at a fragrance launch in London, although it may simply have been the result of the lighting or her make-up.
The mother-of-one, who is known for her revealing outfits on stage and her often risque music videos, paired her eye-catching gown, by German fash- ion designer Philipp Plein, with a matching mauve fur shawl, large glittering earrings and towering twotone Christian Louboutin heels.
Beyonce was joined by a host of other singers at the concert in New York, which was to mark streaming service Tidal reaching one million subscribers. Beyonce and her rapper husband Jay Z, who have a stake in the service, performed his song Holy Grail. She also joined American singer Nicki Minaj on stage for her track Feeling Myself.
The event was not the first time Beyonce’s skin tone has drawn attention. In 2008, cosmetics brand L’Oreal was accused of digitally lightening her skin in an advert, although they denied the pictures had been altered. Beyonce has never responded to claims that she has tried to alter her skin tone.
