- By MARCUS TOWNEND Racing Correspondent

GOLDEN HORN is 8-13 favourite to end his career on a high on Saturday week after being given the go-ahead to run in the Breeders’ Cup Turf by trainer John Gosden.

The Arc and Derby winner will face a line-up at Keeneland in Kentucky stripped of two major challengers.

Andre Fabre- trained Flintshire, winner of the Turf last year and runner- up in the Arc, has been diverted to the Japan Cup while King George winner Postponed also misses out.

Coral make Aidan O’Brien’s Champion Stakes second Found 10- 3 second favourite with US-trained The Pizza Man and Big Blue Kitten, first and second in the Arlington Million, 10-1.

Gosden, who also runs Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere runner-up Cymric, said: ‘He’s held his condition extremely well.’

Golden Horn is one of 29 European entries for the Breeders’ Cup meeting, 13 of them from Britain.

They include Richard Hannon’s Illuminate in the Juvenile Fillies Turf. She was second to Lumiere in last month’s Cheveley Park Stakes.

Like Golden Horn, she will be ridden by Frankie Dettori (left). Hannon said: ‘She might have just needed the run in the Cheveley Park and we are hoping she gets a mile.’ O’Brien has declared Gleneagles to face US Triple Crown winner American Pharoah in the $5m Classic.

LEADING three- day eventer William Fox- Pitt remains sedated and under observation after suffering a head injury in France last weekend.
