Carsley buzzing after Bees win

-

BrenTFOrD caretaker manager lee Carsley hailed his players’ new-found confidence after they made it back-to-back league wins with success at Wolves.

Marco Djuricin and Philipp Hofmann were on target as the Bees secured a convincing victory at Molineux.

Djuricin, on loan from rB Salzburg, struck after 17 minutes and Hofmann sealed the win two minutes from time to earn Carsley his second win in three games.

‘We moved the ball quickly and there were a lot of plusses from tonight,’ said Carsley. ‘The players are in a good place in terms of their confidence and that comes from hard work.’

Buoyed by victory in their last match against rotherham, Brentford made a sparkling start with alan Judge’s free- kick going just wide before Djuricin was denied by keeper emiliano Martinez. They were finally rewarded when Djuricin scored from close-range after being found by Judge’s cross. The closest Wolves came to a first-half equaliser was when Sheyi Ojo cut in from the left before forcing David Button to beat away his drive.

Brentford’s defence stood firm in the second period, with adam le Fondre’s blocked shot on 73 minutes the closest Wolves came.

Brentford put the home side out of their misery when Hofmann raced into the box to collect John Swift’s header and calmly took the ball around Martinez before tapping into the empty net.

‘We didn’t have any tempo to our game at all,’ said Wolves boss Kenny Jackett.
