Tory woes? Not for Boris
PRIME Minister David Cameron must be longing for Christmas in the way that a battered boxer listens for the end-of-the-round bell. Having won an overall majority in May and seen Labour elect Jeremy Corbyn, everything should have been rosy. Instead, his policy on bombing Syria is unravelling, the sordid ‘Tatler Tory’ scandal inches closer to No 10 and the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement is seen retrospectively as a figuresfiddling capitulation to the welfare lobby. And there is still the unresolved matter of our EU membership. With Her Majesty’s Opposition in crisis — as Labour is over the Corbyn leadership — the Tories should be warbling Happy Days Are Here Again. In fact, many are humming Let’s Face The Music And Dance (There May Be Trouble Ahead). Indeed, I can think of only one senior Tory who — considering his future prospects — might be crooning Happy Days Are Here Again into his shaving mirror this morning. I refer to Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson MP.
