Asylum lunacy UK
TODAY we reveal how a man who sneaked into Britain in the back of a lorry was able to use his taxpayer-funded asylum hostel as a base from which to run one of Europe’s biggest people-smuggling rings.
It’s hard to know what is most terrifying: the ease with which Jamal Owda slipped through our porous borders or the jawdropping fact he was able to run an international crime racket, bringing 100 people into Europe every day for 16 months, without the UK authorities noticing.
Indeed, were it not for an investigation by the Greek authorities – whose extradition request Owda is now fighting, using Labour’s Human Rights Act – he may never have been caught at all.
What is certain is that, until ministers get a grip on our chaotic asylum and immigration system, we will continue to be a magnet for the world’s worst criminals.
