Health alert as pupil hides sprouts in school bags
WHEN cooked Brussels sprouts started turning up in children’s bags at a primary school, it was clear a vegetable-hating pupil was responsible.
Mums and dads marvelled at the culprit’s ingenuity for seemingly clearing their plate at home before disposing of the evidence at school. But teachers raised a health and safety alert over the risk of someone suffering an extreme allergic reaction.
Children at Monkfield Park Primary School in Great Cambourne, Cambridgeshire, were warned of the danger in assembly. And a letter begged parents to make sure they were closely ‘monitoring’ their children at dinner times.
But one father described the child – who is believed to be a seven or eight-year-old Year 3 pupil – as a ‘genius’. ‘When I read the letter I laughed. I thought it was a wind-up,’ he told the Sun.
‘The kid should get a medal and a job with MI5. They’re a genius.’
