Sir Cover-Up ‘wrong’ on FOI
SIR Jeremy Heywood’s claim that Freedom of Information laws have a ‘chilling effect’ on day-to-day government business was yesterday dismissed by an ex-minister.
Cabinet Secretary Sir Jeremy, known as Sir Cover-Up, has claimed the laws means civil servants are afraid to give frank advice to ministers in case it is made public. But Lord McNally, a Lib Dem former justice minister, said he ‘had not seen much evidence’ of this.
