The two-nation twins
TWINS of 39 who were the first to be born in different countries have belatedly claimed their world record.
Heidi Gannon and Jo Baines were born in September 1976, one in Wales, one in England, after their mother, Carol, was rushed over the border for specialist care. Their story came to light after Carol read the Guinness World Records and realised her daughters’ record had been given to three-yearold twins. One was born in Northumberland, the other in Scotland after complications required specialist attention.
