Boss faked £13k raid on own shop
A SHOPKEEPER stole £13,000 from the till of the Post Office store he ran, then faked an armed robbery to cover it up.
Rasadhurai Raguvannan, 36, and employee Sathiyanathan Kanagasabai, 35, said thugs stole thousands of pounds and the shop CCTV hard drive. But footage from nearby firms showed nobody entering or leaving the store at the time. Days later, police found the CCTV hard drive at the shop in Derby had been reconnected and an audio recording revealed the pair discussing their plan.
Raguvannan and Kanagasabai admitted perverting the course of justice at Derby Crown Court. Raguvannan also admitted stealing £13,063 from the Post Office and was jailed for 20 months. Kanagasabai was sentenced to ten months suspended for two years.
