Mobile phone law is farce

-

THE new penalties announced by the Government for using a mobile phone while driving are a farce. One lunch time last week, travelling anti-clockwise round the M25 between the M1 and M3 junctions, I saw no fewer than 34 motorists using their phones.

This habit is now endemic, just like disregard for speed limits. I suggest that the Government looks at it again and treats it like drink-driving. Let’s have a £500 fine and a 12-month ban.

And if it can be shown that the call was from or to a company driver, the company should be prosecuted. NORMAN MARRISON,

Verwood, Dorset.
