300 new jobs at Barclays
BARCLAYS is creating 300 jobs at its call centre in Liverpool, which has had a £15m revamp.
The bank’s hiring drive is part of its roll-out of video banking, letting customers to speak faceto-face to advisers via tablets computers and smartphones.
Customers will be able to speak to call handlers at Wavertree Technology Park via video in a service akin to Skype or FaceTime. Barclays is also extending its team responding to queries about mortgages.
Telecoms company BT recently revealed it was hiring a further 1,000 call centre staff to improve its customer service record.
Ashok Vaswani, CEO of Barclays personal and corporate banking, said: ‘We can offer new opportunities for colleagues to develop their careers as well as welcome new recruits to the team from outside the bank.’
