RECORD FINE FOR VENUS

VENUS WILLIAMS has been fined £3,500 for skipping her press conference after her Australian Open first-round defeat by Britain’s Johanna Konta. The tournament fine is Williams’ second in a year and the biggest handed to a woman for shirking press obligations at a Grand Slam. The seven-time major singles champion was fined for the same offence at last year’s French Open.
