Vidic could become saviour for Villa
ASTON VILLA have been offered the chance to sign Nemanja Vidic, 34, on a free transfer. The former Manchester United captain (right) has left Inter Milan after terminating his contract by mutual consent. He has had interest from MLS clubs but is keen to return to the Premier League, though Villa want to ensure the Serbia international is fit as his last competitive game was against Juventus in May. Villa want a leader and have been struggling to sign a centre back, with Bordeaux’s Lamine Sane leaning towards Swansea. Joleon Lescott — signed in the summer — also has interest from Chinese clubs and LA Galaxy. Villa have allowed defender Jose Angel Crespo to join Rayo Vallecano on loan and are discussing a £4.9m move for Croatia goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic.
