Bump chic! Anne takes a short cut to style

- Daily Mail Reporter

WITH a growing baby bump, Anne Hathaway clearly decided that less is more when it comes to pregnancy style.

The Oscar-winner, who is expecting her first child, wore a £400 shift mini-dress by Marc Jacobs that glided over her tummy and showed off her legs.

The -year-old star of The Devil Wears Prada and Les Miserables was attending a charity event in Los Angeles on Wednesday with her husband, actor and producer Adam Shulman.

She also wore £960 Miu Miu sandals with a 5½-inch heel embellished with Swarovski crystals. But while the footwear might have given her some extra sparkle, she could have been taking a risk.

Lorraine Jones, of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, has previously said that pregnant women in high heels could suffer ankle and ligament strain and increase the likelihood of a fall.

She said: ‘Weight gain and hormonal changes in pregnancy have a huge impact on the body. Muscles and ligaments soften and stretch, which makes your feet more prone to ankle and ligament strains on a daily basis.

‘High heels alter your posture, shorten your calf muscles and place increased pressure on your back and knees.

‘In pregnancy this places extra pressure on your joints when they are already under strain, which can result in a host of foot, leg and back problems and could increase the likelihood of falls.’

A source told E! News last month: ‘Anne is feeling really healthy. She is working out and trying to stay in shape during this pregnancy. Her energy levels are high.’
