SPORTSMAIL SCORES 15 NOMINATIONS AT THE SPORTS OSCARS
THE strength of sports coverage in the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday and Mailonline has been recognised again by a wealth of nominations for the prestigious Sports Journalists’ Association awards. The Mail’s Chief Sports Writer MARTIN SAMUEL and the Mail on Sunday’s Chief Sports Writer OLIVER HOLT are both nominated for the Sports Feature Writer award. Football News Correspondent NEIL ASHTON, Chief Sports Reporter MATT LAWTON and Sports Agenda columnist CHARLES SALE are three of the six nominations for the Sports News Reporter award. Mail on Sunday Sports Editor ALISON KERVIN’S exclusive Paula Radcliffe interview and reporter SAM CUNNINGHAM’S story about the Leyton orient players who were forced to stay in a hotel for a week as punishment are both nominated for Sports Scoop. Athletics Correspondent MARTHA KELNER, Golf Correspondent DEREK LAWRENSON and Boxing Correspondent JEFF POWELL all feature in the Specialist Correspondent category. PAUL NEWMAN and LAWRENCE BOOTH are shortlisted in the Cricket Journalist category. NICK HARRIS is nominated as Investigative Sports Reporter while football reporter JACK GAUGHAN is nominated as Young Sports Writer. MAILONLINE, which has 213 million global monthly unique visitors, making it the most popular newspaper website, will compete for the Sports Website award that it won in 2014. The Daily Mail has been named Sports Newspaper of the Year at the last two SJA awards nights, while Martin Samuel is the reigning Sports Writer of the Year. The awards will be presented to the winners in London on Monday, February 22.
