Backlash at cycling bully who confronted this shopper for her ‘dangerous’ driving!

- By James Tozer

WHEN an angry cyclist shared this footage of his foul-mouthed run-in with a woman driver he thought he had the moral high ground. Not for long.

The immediate reaction from YouTube viewers to the clip was to tell the cyclist – in no uncertain terms – to get on his bike.

The clip filmed from his helmetcamera shows the rider confronting the shopper and branding her a ‘f****** idiot’ after she overtakes him and pulls into a supermarket.

But after he posted it on YouTube, viewers insisted the polite motorist had done nothing to provoke him. The cyclist was even given a dressing-down by police over the way he cornered her in a car park on film.

The footage was shot in Eastbourne, East Sussex, last year as he approached a branch of Lidl.

It shows him overtaken by a Ford Focus 20 to 30 yards ahead of the entrance before the indicating car slowly turns left, across his path.

Although some distance behind, he yells: ‘What are you – some sort of f****** idiot? You’re on camera.’

He then follows the car, crossing on to the wrong side of the road, before the video cuts to him confronting the woman driver as she emerges from her car.

He says: ‘Excuse me, I don’t know if you realise what you did out on the road back there but it’s really dangerous.’ The woman responds: ‘You were miles back,’ before asking to see the footage.

The man threatens to report her, but she remains calm before the row escalates. Riled, the cyclist says: ‘I know I don’t pay tax and all that, but I’ve still got a life. You could have taken that away.’

Apparently losing patience, the woman says: ‘I’m very sorry, but I do think it is a little extreme.’

The clip was posted on YouTube under the name Nomadsec, sparking a backlash ending with the rider handing himself into Sussex Police, who gave him ‘words of advice’.

After later appearing on Facebook captioned: ‘Cyclist 100 per cent At Fault! Do you agree?’, the vast majority backed the driver. And MailOnline readers agreed yesterday. Lynn, from London, posted: ‘I’m a cyclist, but this guy is a total idiot and gives cyclists a bad name. That woman did nothing wrong.’

Another wrote: ‘The lady a) gave enough room and b) took the corner fast enough not to impede the cyclist. Hats off to her calmness!’
