England look for an expert at ... kicking!

-

THE FA’s masterplan aimed at winning the World Cup in 2022 includes hiring an array of specialist coaches for when England have the ball, when they do not have the ball — and when they are kicking it.

The FA are advertising on their website for national technical coaches, with the job descriptions saying: ‘We are changing how we work, reallocating resources and investing heavily to create a team of exceptional people capable of creating winning England teams.’

The coaches have the task of coming up with strategies with or without the ball and kicking skills within the ‘parameters of the England DNA’.

The new full-time vacancies, which follow more than 100 redundancies at the governing body, demonstrate the increasing influence of technical director Dan Ashworth, with the FA seemingly banking on his ‘England DNA’ blueprint.

The FA say recruiting specialists will change the tradition of assistant coaches doing everything and maximise training session time.

size of the audience UEFA have lost in the UK after their decision to take BT Sport’s billions at the expense of terrestrial coverage on ITV is shown by the comparison of the same match, Paris Saint-Germain v Chelsea. This drew a peak audience at the Champions League knockout stage on free to air of 5.78million last year, compared to BT Sport’s 1.2m on Tuesday night. It can only be a matter of time before the tournament sponsors start moaning about their decreased exposure. Heineken are sitting on the fence, saying yesterday: ‘We closely monitor the viewing figures of all the sponsorships we are involved in and the Champions League is no different.’ THE increasing spin surrounding next week’s FIFA presidential election saw Gianni Infantino’s camp send the media a list of the 69 countries said to have endorsed the UEFA general secretary (right). It included South Sudan, whom rival Sheik Salman bin Ibrahim al Khalifa’s people pointed out had announced support for their man last week.

Meanwhile, the royal court of Jordan have made it clear they will take ‘appropriate action’ if the Bahrain FA repeat the incendiary, incorrect slur that an ex-Israeli football international is working on Prince Ali’s FIFA campaign.

all the years of speculation and misinformation, the annual salary of disgraced former president Sepp Blatter will finally be revealed when FIFA publish their 2015 financial report next month.
