FOUR things we learned from LVG’s nightmare

- CHRIS WHEELER reports from the MCH Arena

FROM Sunderland to Midtjylland, it has been another awful week for Louis van Gaal. As Manchester United left the Jutland peninsula last night with their tails between their legs, Sportsmail looks at four things we learned …

ROM TO THE RESCUE

BaCK- UP goalkeeper Sergio romero was United’s best player, saving them from an even heavier defeat. The argentine made only his second appearance since august but produced fantastic saves from Pusic and Kadlec in the first half, and an even better one from Onuachu in the second.

THE SISTO KID

UniTed, everton, Tottenham, Southampton and Manchester City are among the Premier League clubs who have maintained a keen interest in Pione Sisto, and the Uganda- born denmark Under 21 midfielder demonstrated why with a fantastic solo effort to bring Midtjylland level before half- time after intercepting Michael Carrick’s poor pass.

SCAM-DINAVIA?

aS if seeing their team humbled by the danish underdogs was not bad enough, the 800 United fans here had to pay £71 for the privilege even though the same tickets usually cost £15. no wonder they sang ‘We are f****** s***’ as their team left the pitch at the end.

COLD COMFORT

UniTed fans could point out that Manchester City also lost to Midtjylland in 2008, and at the etihad, too. However, since then only two clubs have conceded more than one goal here in european competition and they are both from the Welsh Premier League — Bangor City and The new Saints.
