DOWNING Street is to launch an unprecedented 72-hour propaganda blitz making the case for remaining in the EU.

The Prime Minister is expected to appear outside No 10 today to announce the date of the referendum and say the case for staying in is unshakable. Tomorrow he will use an appearance on BBC1’s Andrew Marr show to insist that our national and economy security would be put in doubt by an Out vote. He is also due to unveil plans for a constitutional court he claims will protect the UK from the meddlesome European Court of Justice.

And on Monday a Government dossier will warn that Brexit would be a leap into the unknown. The document – already derided as Dave’s Dodgy Dossier by some – is expected to mirror reports released by the Government during the Scottish referendum in what was dubbed ‘Project Fear’. Cameron’s agreement with European leaders on our relationship with Brussels. Bosses likely to be asked to sign include those at BAE Systems, BT and Diageo.

Controversially, the letter was overseen by Baroness rock, the Tories’ vice chairwoman for business who has taken leave of absence to help the ‘In’ campaign. Kate rock was elevated to the peerage by Mr Cameron in the summer following years of service to the party and is a long-standing friend of george osborne.

A separate letter from leading businesses will also back the ‘In’ campaign. representatives of more than 80 firms listed in the FTSE-100 index are expected to endorse the remain campaign, regardless of whatever deal Mr Cameron obtains.
