I know I can’t have it all, says working mum Julia

WITH young children, a successful TV career and a new book, some might think Julia Bradbury is the perfect example of a woman who has it all.

But the former Countryfile presenter, 45, has admitted the ideal work-life balance is ‘impossible’ to achieve.

The mother of three said the career that dominated her life through her twenties and thirties must now take a back seat, as the ‘most important thing’ is taking care of her children.

She urged women to split their life into phases, where they focus on having fun, working or starting a family. She told the Daily Mail: ‘It is impossible [to have it all]. It’s not just women having it all, it’s men too. We can’t all of us

‘Be honest with yourself’

have it all. I think it’s harder than it’s ever been, because in one way women have more choices than they’ve ever had, and in another way not very much has changed for women.

‘You’ve got to be very clear and honest with yourself about what this phase of your life is about.’ Miss Bradbury was in her forties when she started a family with husband, property developer Gerard Cunningham. She endured a difficult pregnancy for her son Zephyr, now four, and then five rounds of IVF to conceive twin daughters Xanthe and Zena, born last year.

The presenter returned to screens last night on ITV’s Best Walks with a View with Julia Bradbury, and her new book is called Unforgettable Walks.
