Pardew: My replay fears

- KIERAN GILL

ALAN PARDEW has accused the FA and Premier League of putting players at risk as Crystal Palace and Tottenham face a fixture nightmare.

Pardew’s Palace play at Tottenham in the FA Cup tomorrow. If they draw the replay would likely fall on Tuesday, March 8 — two days after Palace face Liverpool in the Premier League and two days before Tottenham could have a Europa League last-16 tie.

Pardew said: ‘I’d hate to see replays go, but scheduling of them looks poor. Between the FA and Premier League, they need to sit down. Wow, it looks complicated to me.

‘ Perhaps foresight was needed at the start of the season on the scheduling of some of these replays.

‘I don’t think it has been confirmed yet, but there are discussions going on that the scenario would be a twoday break for us and Spurs. We are putting our players at risk. That is not enough recovery time.’

Tomorrow’s tie will see Emmanuel Adebayor up against his previous employers. The former Spurs striker spoke this week about Dan- iel Levy, blaming his exit on the Tottenham chairman.

Adebayor infamously sprinted to Arsenal fans in 2009 to celebrate a goal for Manchester City against his former club. Pardew said: ‘Because of his history at Spurs and the way it ended, he’s going to have those emotions.

‘I would like to think that if he is going to score and he wants to celebrate like that, that he does it in front of our fans because they’ve been missing a bit of that lately. Let’s hope he gets the ends right this time.’
