ATM scam fear for Santander

SANTANDER was forced to close a string of cashpoints yesterday after police warned that suspicious devices had been found on a number of ATMs.

It is feared criminals may have been attempting to steal money and card details.

Police advised people not to use some of the bank’s cash machines in Lancashire and Cheshire.

Santander said police asked it to close five ATMs in the North West and Lancashire area due to ‘potential criminal activity’, but there had been no customer reports of fraud.
