THE red card for Cheikhou Kouyate was very harsh. The West Ham midfielder caught Dwight Gayle with a high but not excessive tackle and a yellow card would have been more appropriate.

However, I doubt an appeal will be successful as it is likely to be seen as harsh rather than wrong.
