Blasting beams of light
LASER hair removal involves using a laser to blast a beam of light at the follicles hairs grow out of. This heats the follicles, which damages them and prevents hairs growing back.
Lasers can be used almost anywhere on the body, including legs, arms, upper lips or toes.
Experts say that the pain should be tolerable and not excruciating. The procedure is uncomfortable because of the heat produced by the laser.
It can be more painful if the hair is dark or thick or if someone has sensitive skin.
It is advised to take a painkiller and use cooling sprays or aloe vera gels to help with the pain. Loose clothing can also help prevent irritation.
For best results, six to 12 sessions are recommended. It takes around 0 minutes to have both legs treated. The cost of one session on the legs can cost anywhere between £150 and £1,000.
