Rothschild sells estate to fund life with Hilton

BANKING scion James Rothschild

and American hotels heiress Nicky Hilton (right) have received a belated wedding present worth more than £24 million.

I hear that the son of tragic Amschel Rothschild, who was found dead in Paris’s Bristol Hotel in 1996 after he hanged himself, has sold his family’s Rushbrooke estate in Suffolk.

James put the 1,700-acre estate on the market before his wedding last year.

‘It was sold for more than the advertised price to a nearby farmer, who is going to make it his family home,’ says James Wood, of estate agent Bidwells.

The sale surprised locals, since the estate has been in the Rothschild family since 1938.

And somewhat ominously for those living locally, it was described by the agent as having ‘development potential’.
