has been seeking volunteers for next month — but don’t get any ideas about staying at the castle.

An advert states that ‘dedicated and enthusiastic’ staff are needed for the pageant, at which there will be a 90th birthday celebration for the Queen. When it comes to sleeping, you might be allowed to stay under canvas.

‘Some camping is available for volunteers who are able to supply their own camping equipment,’ the ad warns. ‘This is allocated on a first come, first served basis. We regret that we are not able to offer any other accommodation or pay travel expenses.’ Form an orderly queue.
