Fevered memories
I WAS interested in the reference to the isolation hospital (Letters). I, too, was born in Croydon and aged four I contracted scarlet fever. I spent six weeks in the isolation hospital at Waddon Marsh, Croydon, and was not allowed visitors.
When I was eventually reunited with my family I had to leave my teddy bear behind for fear of contamination, which upset me immensely. The isolation hospital has now gone and in its place is a large industrial complex
