Yahoo bid talks

THE parent company of the Daily Mail has emerged as a potential buyer of Yahoo.

Bids for the internet giant, which is valued at £27bn, have to be made by next week after its core business was put up for sale in February. Daily Mail & General Trust, which publishes the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday newspapers as well as Mail Online, has confirmed it is in talks with Yahoo over a potential bid. Yahoo has struggled in recent years against rivals such as Facebook and Google, and reported a loss of £3bn in its latest accounts. DMGT shares fell 0.65pc or 4.5p to 691p.
