BOXER Nicola Adams’s quest to qualify for the Olympics began with a victory at the European qualifying tournament in Turkey yesterday. The 33-year-old beat Iulia Coroli of Moldova and will face Sarah Ourahmoune of France in the last eight tomorrow. Reaching the final would ensure Adams qualifies for Rio.

KENYAN president Uhuru Kenyatta has said he will personally ensure his country passes legislatio­n to meet a World Anti-Doping Agency deadline, meaning Kenya’s athletes would be allowed to compete at the Olympics. WADA has set a deadline of May 2 for Kenya to sort out its anti-doping programme.
