WHERE CITY’S TIE WILL BE WON AND LOST...
ATTACKING DILEMMA
I THOUGHT City would lose in Paris but at 2-2 the quarter-final is brilliantly poised. However, they face a dilemma — do they sit back and protect what they have or go and attack? City are not the kind of team to try to soak up pressure so I think Manuel Pellegrini has to send them out to score goals and put PSG on the back foot.
HOME ADVANTAGE
NORMALLY I pick out players but the fans have a big role to play tonight. City supporters have had their problems with UEFA and haven’t really taken to the Champions League, but tonight could be a game to make them fall in love with the competition. They have to create an aggressive, intimidating atmosphere and make PSG feel uncomfortable.
BRAZIL v ARGENTINA
THERE are normally fireworks when these two nations meet and I can’t wait to see Sergio Aguero battling Thiago Silva. The Brazilian is excellent in the air and almost as good in the opposition box as his own, so Aguero will have his work cut out. It should be a great contest.
MEN IN THE MIDDLE
Paris Saint-Germain missed Marco Verratti in the first leg and, if fit, he could pose a real threat, so City have to seize control of midfield. Fernando and Fernandinho have been terrible in the Premier League together, but they have done OK in Europe. I suspect Pellegrini will pick both, partly to try to protect his centre backs. Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi were playing on the edge in Paris and I can’t see Zlatan being so quiet again.
BRILLIANT DE BRUYNE
KEVIN DE BRUYNE is a sensational player and has shown City what they missed when he was injured. He’s not got blistering pace and is not really an all-action player, but he’s so cool in front of goal.
