All these gizmos and gadgets... but they still keep getting it wrong

SPORTSMAIL today reveals the full extent of the incredible range of technological aids which are now available for our underfire Premier League referees.

The gizmos and gadgets which are sported by all our Premier League referees such as Kevin Friend (right) — include battery packs, radio receivers, earpieces and heartrate monitors.

They vary in price from as little as £2 to £2,100.

But despite all this technological assistance, our top- flight officials are struggling. This has been a particularly bad few days for the Premier League’s men in the middle.

It started last Sunday with several controversial decisions from Jon Moss during Leicester City’s 2-2 draw at home with West Ham United.

His most contentious call was to book Leicester’s star striker Jamie Vardy for diving which led to him being sent off for two yellow cards.

Sergio Aguero then scored a goal for Manchester City from a clearly offside position at Newcastle United on Tuesday.

Added to that, our best officials couldn’t take charge of any of these high-profile games because they were out of the country on a course for Euro 2016. Let’s hope our referees get it right this weekend.
