The Fall Girl
As she takes a tumble on the red carpet AGAIN, just why can’t Jennifer stay on her feet?
AS an Oscar-winner who has won plaudits from audiences worldwide for her accomplished acting, Jennifer Lawrence rarely puts a foot wrong. Unless she is on a red carpet, that is. On Monday night, the Hunger Games star, 25, managed to clock up her seventh fall in front of the world’s media in just three years, tumbling over at the X Men: Apocalypse premiere in London.
Her profusion of very public falls is now leading some to wonder whether her heels are just too high or she is simply in need of a steadying influence. Her epic trip-ups began in February 2013, when she lost a stiletto heel leaving a London restaurant and fell into the arms of a security guard.
Her most high-profile fall happened just weeks later at the Oscars, when, wearing a huge Dior gown, she walked up the stairs to accept her Best Actress award – and didn’t quite make it.
A year later in 2014, at the same ceremony, she managed to bash into a cone and fall over on the red carpet.
And in 2015, at a premiere in Madrid, she caught her heel in her floor-length dress and was sent flying.
For the next six months, she managed to stay upright. Then came Monday. First, her silver stilettos seemed to be the cause of a major wobble on the red carpet. Then, as she left Tape nightclub hours later, she had a second slip on the wet ground. So what’s going on?
According to her biographer, there is a simple explanation – she is just clumsy.
‘Jennifer’s just a klutz, a goofball,’ says Nadia Cohen. ‘She’s got no airs and graces. She finds wearing gowns and high heels very difficult – they’re impractical.’
