Hugh stirs the Brexit hearts

-

COULD Hugh Bonneville swing it for Brexit? The Downton Abbey star is to release a tribute album to the English countryside a week before the EU referendum — a move sure to stir patriotic hearts.

Both David Cameron and Boris believe the Countryfile vote is the key to winning the referendum and have given interviews to the TV show.

Now Bonneville and composer Damian Montagu and trumpet player Stewart Prosser have created In A South Downs Way, a celebration of the music and poetry of their local countryside. ‘My friend, Damian, played me some tracks he and Stewart were developing and asked me to read some poetry over the wonderful music,’ Bonneville says. ‘It inspired me to offer some words of my own. In A South Downs Way reminds me of the place I’m lucky enough to call home.’

The album includes The Path Towards Tomorrow, Skylark and England Green, selections certain to feature on any Brexiteer’s playlist.

Bonneville’s name was absent from the list of luvvies who signed their support for the Remain campaign. Was he nursing a dark secret — has he been a silent Vote Leave backer all this time?
