Nile hits heights with gold

NILE WILSON kept his nerve to become the first British gymnast to win a European Championship gold medal on the high bar. Team-mate Kristian Thomas posted 15.0 early on in Bern but had to settle for silver when Wilson (above) scored 15.3 on the last routine. Wilson, 20, tweeted: ‘Never had a feeling like that throughout my whole journey as a gymnast. European champion... Wow.’ This was the final major competition before the Rio Olympics team is announced on July 12.
