JOSE’S IRRITATING BUT A WINNER, SAYS KEANE

- JACK GAUGHAN

FORMER Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has described new Old Trafford manager Jose Mourinho as ‘really irritating’. ‘He is not my cup of tea,’ Keane told ITV. ‘I found him really irritating when I coached against him, but that is just a personal thing.’ However, TV pundit Keane believes that Mourinho could still bring success to United and added: ‘Working at Manchester United is all about winning and his c.v. will tell you he is a winner. He was always going to be a good option when United didn’t qualify for the Champions League. He was available, has a fantastic c.v. and it seems like a good fit, but maybe he is not for me.’ Michael Carrick, set to sign a new one-year deal at United, believes United have raised the bar in response to Pep Guardiola’s arrival at Manchester City by appointing Mourinho. ‘His track record speaks for itself, I think it’s a good fit,’ Carrick said yesterday. ‘I know there’s a lot of talk about styles. But it’s about winning, it’s about being No 1.’
