Adele ‘splashes out £6.5m on LA mansion’
SHE must have been wondering what to do with all that cash.
After news of a £90million record deal, Adele is said to have splashed out on a £6.5million Beverly Hills mansion.
It is understood that the 28-year-old managed to knock quarter of a million off the asking price for the four-bedroom home, which also boasts six bathrooms and a swimming pool.
Her three-year-old boy also looks in for a treat, as the property is said to include a treehouse and an outdoor train set.
According to American website TMZ, the 6,600 sq ft mansion is set in an exclusive gated community. Others who live in the Los Angeles neighbourhood include actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Cameron Diaz.
When asked to confirm the sale, a spokesman for the star declined to comment. However the property looks set to become a US base for Adele, her Old Etonian partner Simon Konecki, 42, and their little boy Angelo.
It was reported last week that the singer – who once lived over a shop in West Norwood, South London – had secured the biggest ever record deal for a British musician. News of the £90million agreement with Sony follows the release of her third album, 25, in November, which became the world’s bestselling album of 2015.
She was previously said to be worth £85million, and has already spent £16million amassing an impressive property portfolio.
In March 2012, she bought a £2.5million seaside home in Hove, Sussex, where her partner grew up and his bottled water company Life water is based. She is understood to have later bought the house next door for £5million. She has also spent £11million on two houses in Kensington, West London, with plans to knock them through into one.
The Grammy-winner insisted last year that fortune and fame had not changed her, saying: ‘I like the way I have lived my life always, so that’s why I’ll carry on like that.
‘No one else in my life is famous, so they’d think I was an idiot if I got carried away with myself.’ However she did admit that wealth had a few perks. ‘I shop at Waitrose these days,’ she said.
‘I [also] got a plasma TV. I used to have that big thick one up until recently.’
Brad Pitt is said to have bought a £2.6million house on the holiday island of Majorca.
Local newspapers said the actor – who is married to Angelina Jolie – went for the eight-bedroom property after filming in the region. He is said to have ‘fallen in love’ with the Balearic Islands.
