Blowing raspberries: Prince George pulls silly faces while watching horse trials with his mother in Norfolk

THERE’S nothing better than a day out watching the horses – especially if it involves mummy letting you have some of daddy’s cake.

However, Prince George was in need of a quick wipe down from the Duchess of Cambridge after tucking in to his sticky treat.

He then pursed his lips and puffed out his cheeks with delight at the prospect of having his cake and horses too.

George, who will be three next month, appears to have inherited the Royal Family’s passion for all things equestrian and showed his excitement as riders splashed in and out of a water jump at the Houghton International Horse Trials in Norfolk at the weekend.

He and his mother, both wearing blue and white striped tops, were there with Prince William and Princess Charlotte, one.

William tucked into a slice of cake on a paper plate and George clearly had a bite too, Kate dab- bing his face and hands afterwards with a wet wipe. She wrapped her arms around her son as she did, possibly to stop him wriggling free from her efforts to keep him looking presentable. She then turned to hugging a cherubic Charlotte, whose hair was swept back on one side in a blue bow. The royals applauded the riders and horses as they sat with their friend James Meade, whose brother Harry was competing in Saturday’s trials. William and Kate are also friends with Lord Cholmondeley, owner of Houghton Hall which is close to their family home at Anmer. An onlooker said: ‘They were sitting on the grass near a water jump and were watching the riders come through. George pulled a delightful face when a rider had just come past and splashed a lot.

‘They were not separated from the public in any way. They were doing their best to be inconspicuous and look like any other family.’

The onlooker added: ‘William and Kate had their nanny [Maria Borrallo], with them but spent lots of time with their kids.

‘Charlotte cuddled up to Kate while sitting in her lap and William shared a moment with George when they were preparing to go. They both looked very much at ease with family life.’
