… as wife Amber is called a ‘hero’ for speaking out on abuse claims

DRINKING cocktails and partying until the early hours with an attractive young woman at his side, Johnny Depp appears not to have a care in the world.

The Hollywood star looked relaxed as he drank with friends at the £8,000-a-night Grand Hotel in Stockholm following a sell- out gig with his band, Hollywood Vampires, in the city on Monday night.

Meanwhile, in the US, lawyers for his estranged wife Amber Heard described her as a ‘hero’ for speaking out about the violent abuse she claims to have suffered at the hands of Depp. The actress made her explosive accusations last Friday. Her legal team said yesterday that she did not come forward sooner because she was attempting to protect Depp’s Hollywood career.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star has denied the allegations and his friends claim they are an attempt by Miss Heard, 30, to get a share of his £300million fortune in their increasingly bitter divorce battle.

For his part, Depp appeared to have forgotten the drama as he emerged from his topfloor suite in the Swedish capital at 1am. The

hotel bar was closing when Depp arrived, but staff reopened for him and his party.

They stayed for an hour, with Depp, 52, and the mystery brunette standing together and talking intimately. An observer said: ‘ The brunette was embracing Johnny’s shoulder when he talked to members of the band. They stood really close and talked for a long time at the bar. They seemed to have a good time.

‘She was standing next to him the whole time I saw him at the bar. The brunette was there with a couple of friends, but Johnny only talked to her. He seemed to enjoy her company.’

Yesterday Depp left Sweden in a blaze of publicity, signing autographs, posing for selfies and grinning at the crowd.

Drummer Matt Sorum told MailOnline: ‘ We had a great night here in Stockholm. Everyone enjoyed themselves – Johnny is doing fine as well.’

Miss Heard, 30, has been supported by her friend and neighbour Raquel Pennington, a yoga teacher who designs spiritual-themed jewellery.

The actress has been granted a temporary restraining order against Depp after claiming the actor threw a phone at her, hitting her in the face, during a row ten days ago. Miss Pennington claims to have broken up the row. Miss Heard, who showed the court in Los Ange- les pictures of her face with bruises on it, said Depp has a drink and drugs problem and she ‘lived in fear’ of him.

However US website TMZ reported that when police arrived at the couple’s home after the alleged row, Miss Heard did not tell them Depp had hit her with the phone and they saw no sign of injuries. It was also reported she did not file a police report alleging Depp attacked her. Yesterday Miss Heard’s lawyers said she had given a statement to police to support her account of alleged domestic violence.

They did not indicate when she gave her account, and the Los Angeles Police Department said it has no details of Miss Heard speaking to officers.

In a statement, the lawyers said: ‘Amber is simply a victim of domestic violence, and none of her actions are motivated by money. Amber is a brave and financially independent woman who is showing the courage of her convictions by doing the right thing against Johnny’s relentless army of lawyers and surrogates.

‘The Family Law Court is not going to be influenced by misinformation placed in the social media based on anonymous sources. Amber is the victim. Amber is a hero.’
