WHY does the nationalist independence party for Scotland not want to gain independence?

The closer we get to the eu referendum, the more it appears that the SNP’s idea of independence is no more than nationalist racism against england.

There is no such thing as independence within europe — that is contrary to the eu’s principles — so why would Scotland wish to become part of a multi- state union with no common language?

It is indeed worrying that Scots are being led into nationalist racism against our neighbours while being led into europe with no hope of independence ever.
