HISTORIAN Tracy Borman presents this new series, which opens with a look at the Tudors’ surprising attitudes to sex. It was a custom for courtiers to accompany a royal couple to their bedchamber and ‘put them to bed’, to make the consummation of the marriage more likely. The courtiers then listened at the door.
