Stars of the past crash out

SOME familiar faces said farewell to the Daily Mail Foursomes for another year in this season’s fourth round. Jean Kelly, who reached the final with Marriott Worsley Park clubmate Mary Finney two years ago, and Sue Rudman were beaten by one hole by Cavendish’s Anna Major and Chris Campbell. Gale McPherson and Sally Hamilton, of Loudoun, made the last four in 2008, but were beaten 2&1 by Prestwick St Nicholas’s Mara Lindsay and Margaret White. Moira Wilson, who won the women’s trophy as long ago as 1989, and Seacroft clubmate Julie Keays were also beaten 2&1, by North Shore’s Sally Marvell and Jane Low in this year’s third round. Ely City’s Elaine Bertram and Patricia Nixon, who reached the final the last time it was played at Marriott Worsley Park three years ago, exited in the second round. More stories at www.mailgolf.co.uk
