We’ve lost our unborn baby, says Ramsay
GORDON Ramsay’s wife has suffered a miscarriage five months into her pregnancy with their fifth child.
Tana Ramsay, 41, was being supported by her family last night after losing her baby, a boy, over the weekend.
Her husband announced the sad news with a statement on his Facebook page yesterday. He wrote: ‘Hi guys, Tana and I want to thank you so much for your support over the past couple of weeks.
‘We had a devastating weekend as Tana has sadly miscarried our son at five months. We’re together healing as a family, but we want to thank everyone again for all your amazing support and well wishes. I’d especially like to send a big thank you to the amazing team at Portland Hospital for everything they’ve done. Gx’.
Ramsay, 49, announced his wife’s pregnancy last month during an appearance on James Corden’s US talk show The Late Late Show.
Corden asked the chef how hard it was to manage his four teenage children – Megan, 17, twins Holly and Jack, 16, and 14-year-old Matilda – to which Ramsay replied: ‘We have three girls and a boy – and one more on the way.’
Asked about the welfare of cookery writer Tana, Ramsay said: ‘[She’s] excited, she’s doing well, she’s all good thank you.’
The couple, who have previously described their family as a ‘team’, will mark their 20th wedding anniversary this year.
According to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, at least one in five pregnancies ends in an early miscarriage – classified as a miscarriage before three months of pregnancy.
Late miscarriages, classified as those after three months but before 24 weeks, are far rarer, affecting only one to two per cent of pregnancies.
