A £15 gadget to squeeze that last blob of ketchup

-

IT IS an age-old problem – how to get the last drops of ketchup out of the bottle.

Now an inventor has come up with a gizmo to solve the infuriating issue of squeezing out the remains of the sauce.

Richard Fereday became fed up with spraying the dinner table with specks of red while trying to get the final dregs from a near-empty squeezable bottle.

His Flying Saucer device works by placing a bottle, tube or jar in a cone-shaped holster. The user swings the device in a circular or windmill motion for about ten seconds until the contents are forced up and collected inside the gadget – using the process of centrifugal force.

The cap is then taken from the pouch and used as a funnel to pour out the contents.

Businessman Mr Fereday, 54, has started crowdfunding on Kickstarter to pay for production. He hopes to raise £ ,000 to cover his costs and sell the gadgets for £15. The ecoconscious entrepreneur designed the device at home and says it works for condiments as well as cosmetics like hand or face cream.

Mr Fereday, from Christchurch, Dorset, said he first came up with the idea around the dinner table six years ago. He said: ‘We were sitting having dinner when the sauce one of the children was using came to an end.

‘I took the bottle from my youngest, who had been pumping out tomato-scented air for five minutes, secured the lid and started twirling my arm around. Much to my kids’ amazement it worked.’
