Mrs Clegg blasts PM’s ‘Mickey Mouse’ deal
NICK Clegg’s wife, Miriam Durantez Gonzalez, has attacked David Cameron’s ‘Mickey Mouse EU negotiation’ in an extraordinary swipe.
The Remain campaigner said the PM’s offer to the electorate did not amount to ‘proper’ reform.
Her remarks were seized on by Brexiteers as a sign that the Remain campaign had ‘split’. The wife of the former Deputy Prime Minister told Fortune’s Most Powerful Women event: ‘The European Union is crying for reform. Proper reform, not that Mickey Mouse negotiation that the Prime Minister did.’ She accused Mr Cameron and the country of ‘sleepwalking towards disaster’.
Former Welsh Secretary David Jones said: ‘Oh dear, even EU fanatic Nick Clegg’s wife slams David Cameron’s EU renegotiation.’
